Upgrading VC Fiber Modules from the 4GB to the 8GB interconnects
Tyler needed some advice for upgrading VC Fibre Channel modules:
*********************
Doesn’t anyone have a guide or upgrade manual for Upgrading VC Fiber Modules from the 4 GB to the 8 GB modules when you have two Enclosures Stacked?
I am replacing VC Fiber 4GB modules in BAYs 3 & 4 on two Enclosures that are currently stacked. Looking for any gotcha’s.

if the VC SAN 8GB modules are the 20port ones (QLogic based) then you can replace them 1 to 1 without any further change.
If the new 8GB modules are 24ports ones then you have more work to do in removing all pending profile connections associated to that bay that you are going to replace; then remove the hardware from the VC domain and then import the new 8GB 24port module and re-make the profile connections.
This is how I would do it if somebody thinks different or has a different practical approach then feel free to share it out.

Comments or advice on how you have done this?
