Virtual Connect 8/20FC Fails

Hi,

We are trying to upgrade the firmware of Virtual Connect FC and it fails. We tried with different versions of Firmware right from 3.15, 3.18, and the latest 3.51.

Every time we upgrade virtual connect flex-10 ethernet upgrades or downgrades successfully.

Can somebody help on this.

We are doing this u[grade throug VC firmware upgrade utility.

Hi There,

Hope you are using the latest version of VCSU.

Virtual Connect FC firmware has some dependencies and it should be updated last. Check and update the firmware of OA first then VC.

I haven't had a chance to test it, but they are saying that you can do the firmware update from SUM5 these days:  http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/service_packs/en/index.html

whenever you have some VC-FC upgrade problems, always make sure you are using latest VCSU version. VC-FC has different upgrade mechanism than VC-ethnet and has different Firwall port open requirements. VCSU latest version has improvements on this area.

Yes, HP SUM can do VC upgrades as well. It has built-in VCSU engine. HP SUM5 along with SPP 2012.01 just got launched. HP SUM5 can let you point just OA ip and it can auto discover all components/firmware in the blade enclosure and update them. VCSU standalone utility still has a little more controls than HP SUM5 engine but for most of cases, HP SUM5 VCSU engine with do the job.

I could not get through. Planning to do an upgrade using smart update manager.

I have checked the logs, please find the same below.

is this from VCSU 1.60?

can you try to use VCSU1.60, also try to double check there is no FW on the PC or along the path may blocking the traffic.

can you upload the full vcsu update log after it failes? It should give you the location info at the end of update process.
