Virtual Connect FC 8/24 port Modules

All:

This will be our first VC FC deployment. We have previously used HP Branded Brocade 8/24 port Interconnect switches. Our OA version is 4.12 and VCM is 4.10. The FC modules were updated by using vcfwall410.

Everything seems pretty straight forward. However I do have two questions:

Does the VCM automatically form FC Groups once more than one uplink is defined per IO bay?

We are using EMC VMAX as storage, Any gotchas? our SAN fabric is a simple FabricA/FabricB, active/active configuration.

We have not moved any BL460 Blades into this new chassis yet. They will probably be BL460cG7's (16).

Regards,

Louis

No it does not.  When you create your SAN in VC and add each port that is a part of that fabric, it will be up to the switch to manage the ports.  Remember you are not replacing one switch for another, you are removing a switch from the blade environment and adding a sort of smart pass-through or aggregrator in its place.

Cant speak for VMAX, but your config sounds straight forward enough.  Google "Virtual Connect Fibre Channel Cookbook" and review that document.  It goes through various configs including the one you describe.
