Virtual Connect Flex-10 VLAN Configuration Question
Jack had a configuration question:

Here is the configuration scenario:
1/ c7000 with 2 x Flex-10 modules working in Mapped mode, ESXi4.1 Update1 environment
2/ Defined 2 x SUS
SUS_A
VLAN1_A
VLAN2_A
VLAN3_A
SUS_B
VLAN1_B
VLAN2_B
VLAN3_B
3/ Creating an ESX server Profile
Port1: Multiple Networks
VLAN1_A
VLAN2_A
VLAN3_A
Port2: Multiple Networks
VLAN1_B
VLAN2_B
VLAN3_B
So far so good – everything works as expected
Now my question is whether I can configure Port3 like this
Port3: Multiple Networks
VLAN1_A
VLAN4_A
VLAN5_A
When the customer does this the system does not post any error message however ESX will bring down both Port1 and Port3. As soon as VLAN1_A is removed from either Port1 or Port3 the operation of the ports is restored.
Is this an unsupported configuration or this particular configuration causes a network loop then the traffic from Port1 and Port3 is joined on the upstream switch?

Surely you would be associating a Vlan id for VLAN1_A. Two ports of a server can not be associated to same Vlan. That is the reason ESX brings down both the ports.
Why you want to configure two ports in same Vlan?. If you want more bandwidth please increase the bandwidth of the Port1.

VCM would give you an error if you try to assign a profile where 2 connections to the same VLAN would map to 2 FlexNICs of the same 10Gb port. Which blade model are you assigning this profile to ? Does it have mezz cards ?
