Virtual Connect Flex-10 & the Virtual Connect Manager (VCM) 3.15 Multicast limit?
Marc had a VCM Multicast question:
*****************
Hi all,
I am working with a security system vendor that is observing some issues with multicast in a VC environment. They have some blade servers in a c7000 with VIrtual Connect Flex-10 modules. They are noticing what appears to be a limit to multicast group membership in VC domains. Is there a limit in the number of join and leaves that can be handled by VC in a certain time frame? This is impacting the ability of systems to record the output from several security cameras at a site.

I seem to recall it depends on the VC module. I know the VC 1/10 Ethernet supported 1024 Multicast groups. So VC Flex-10 at least supports 1024 groups. For some reason I believe VC Flex-10 and VC FlexFabric went to 8k. I will have to confirm.
There is no limit to how many can be handled in a certain time frame, just the total upper limit.
On a side note the O/S drivers have limits as well that apply to a server.

Any other help for Marc??
