Virtual Connect Flex 10 on C3000 MEZZ 2 & IO module 3-4

Rick had a question on port mapping in a c3000 chassis:

When a Flex 10 MEZZ 2 adapter is configured for a BL4xxG6/7 inside the C3000 does the signal trace present themselves across the 3-4 IO modules (4 flex nics on bay 3 and 4 flex nics on bay 4) or are they all presented to bay 3 ?

 

This example represents a 4 port NIC and I’m not sure or can’t find the specific tracing for a Flex 10 NC552/3m card. Assuming if the below method is used one 10G port is on IO bay 3 and the other 10G port is on bay 4.

Port mapping diagrams refer to physical wiring in the enclosure between Embedded NICs, Mezz cards and Interconnect modules.

 

Flex-10 adapters have two physical 10Gb ports with the wiring for those ports described in the enclosure and server port mapping diagram as you have shown below.

 

The Flex functions share a 10Gb port from a wiring and bandwidth standpoint and have the base port number and the function number on that port.

In the OA port mapping Table View for a G7 blade with Embedded Flex, the list indicates the type of connection (Ethernet, FCoE, iSCSI) for each function and the port and function number.

You can see that the port mapping for all four of the functions is to the same interconnect bay and bay port number.
