Ray has provided the latest info for Virtual Connect FlexFabric functionality:

We are winding down the calendar year and I’m happy to say that we now have FCoE support across all supported Operating Systems and Hypervisors.  The latest VC FlexFabric Solution Recipe is now available for download with updates for VMware ESX//ESXi 4.0.  You will also find several updates related to recipe support for the new HP ProLiant BL620c G7 and BL680c G7.

VMware ESX/ESXi 4.0 Driver CD for Emulex FC/FCoE lpfc820 v8.2.0.79.28 release dated 2010/12/13

And

V8.2.0.86.26 release dated 2010/12/07

Which is the latest we should be using for NC551m for a 4.0U2 installation?

As Ray’s recipe states, we should be recommending that customers use the Emulex FC/FCoE lpfc820 v8.2.0.79.28 driver.

The other driver was developed for a different Emulex partner and has not been tested or qualified on HP products.
