Virtual Connect (VC) Port throughput and performance monitoring

James was looking for help in getting Virtual Connect throughput numbers:

Does anyone have information on how to monitor Virtual Connect performance and throughput down to the server port level?

Hello, Albert!

As I know, you can't monitor performance and throughput down to the server port.

You can only dublicate all traffic going through SUS on another port.

You can collect traffic data using SNMP MIB-2.

You can use the standard rfc1213 or rfc1215 MIBs, which will provide port interface stats.  The problem is deciphering which Port ID is the correct port.  I know that 1003 is Downlink Port #1.  You have to query each individual VC module for their own interface stats.  I do know that VC Flex-10 and FlexFabric have no way of reporting FlexNIC stats today.

Great info. Any other suggestions? How are you monitoring network performance?
