Virtual Connect support with Brocade SAN switch configured in a virtual fabric
Terri was having trouble with a Brocade DCX Director and Virtual Connect:
******************************************************
Hello all,
Customer has Brocade DCX Director switch connecting to 8/24 VCFC modules running fw 1.01. On the Brocade the Virtual Fabric feature is configured. Is this supported?
The c-class blades will log into the Brocade switch into the Brocade VC (Virtual Fabric) which is a logical switch subset of the whole SAN switch.
Got a c7000 with BL495c G5 blades running ESX 4.0 U5. The issue is that when blades are rebooted it takes up to 23 minutes before the blades can re-aquire the EMC-presented storage…where the ESX VMs are.

Brian indicated to Terri that he had some experience with that type of configuration:

I recently had a customer do this with SVSP and XP’s and it worked just fine. Sounds like an EMC issue.
Are they running NPIV on the VMs? There ar limits to how many NPIV WWN’s can exist at the host level with VC and I wonder if they are exceeding that….

Any comments or suggestions for Terri? Have you got this type of config? Let us know if there are secrets.
