Which Direct Attach Cables(DAC) to connect FlexFabric with HPN A5820 switch ?

Pascal had a DAC question:

I need to propose a complete solution with both c7000/FlexFabric and A5820 switches.

Since the whole config will be in the same rack, I’d like to use copper Direct Attache Cable (less expensive so more competitive).

BUT:

- On the A5820 side,  only following DAC are listed as possible options in the Product Bulletin :

• HP X240 SFP+ SFP+ 0.65 m Direct Attach Cable    JD095B
• HP X240 SFP+ SFP+ 1.2 m Direct Attach Cable      JD096B
• HP X240 SFP+ SFP+ 3 m Direct Attach Cable          JD097B
• HP X240 SFP+ SFP+ 5m Direct Attach Cable           JG081B

-          On the FlexFabric side, following SFP+ DAC are listed as possible options in the Product Bulletin :

• HP X242 SFP+ SFP+ 1m Direct Attach Cable           J9281B
• HP X242 SFP+ SFP+ 3m Direct Attach Cable           J9283B
• HP X242 SFP+ SFP+ 7m Direct Attach Cable           J9285B

Is there any supported solution ?

If yes, which cables can I include in my config ?

The A-series cables (X240) work today with VC 3.18 and will be fully supported with VC 3.30 in a few weeks (at which point the VC Quickspecs should be updated I guess). So depending on the timing of the proposal, that’s what I would suggest.

Keep in mind that the 7m cable is only supported on ports X5-X8 per the QS:

NOTE: 7m DAC (P/N J9285B) length is supported on VC FlexFabric module ports X5-X8. Ports X1-X4 support up to 5m DAC lengths.
