c7000 interconnect bays configuration validation

Angel was looking to get a configuration confirmation for a customer:

********************************

Hello,

We have a customer with a c7000 enclosure with the following interconnect bay configuration:

Bay 1: Virtual Connect Flex-10

Bay 2: Virtual Connect Flex-10

Bay 3: Virtual Connect Fibre Channel

Bay 4: Virtual Connect Fibre Channel

Bay 5: Virtual Connect Fibre Channel

Bay 6: Virtual Connect Fibre Channel

With half-height servers installed on it.

Now, customer wants to install in the same enclosure full-height servers with more Ethernet ports. We are thinking on the following interconnect bays configuration:

Bay 1: Virtual Connect Flex-10

Bay 2: Virtual Connect Flex-10

Bay 3: Virtual Connect Fibre Channel

Bay 4: Virtual Connect Fibre Channel

Bay 5: Virtual Connect Fibre Channel

Bay 6: Virtual Connect Fibre Channel

Bay 7: Virtual Connect Flex-10

Bay 8: Virtual Connect Flex-10

Full-height servers will have a dual port Flex-NIC mezzanine installed on mezzanine-3.

The previous interconnect bays configuration does not appear as a valid one on Virtual Connect QuickSpecs, but as half-height servers are not going to use 4 ports mezzanine cards on mezzanine 2, and dual port mezzanines installed on mezzanine-3 of full-height servers are mapped to bays 7 and 8, question is: is supported this interconnect bay configuration?

We know that changing the interconnect bays to:

Bay 1: Virtual Connect Flex-10

Bay 2: Virtual Connect Flex-10

Bay 3: Virtual Connect Flex-10

Bay 4: Virtual Connect Flex-10

Bay 5: Virtual Connect Fibre Channel

Bay 6: Virtual Connect Fibre Channel

Bay 7: Virtual Connect Fibre Channel

Bay 8: Virtual Connect Fibre Channel

is a supported configuration, but we want to avoid stopping production servers to change the interconnect bay configuration.

Thanks in advance for any answer,

There are four redundant fabrics supported in the c7000.  I think your configuration adding a Flex-10 fabric to bays 7 and 8 connected to full-height servers Mezz 3 will work as described as you are not using four-port cards in Mezz 2 or Mezz 3 on any server.
