having multiple ethernet adapters in a server profile - not working

hi all

we would like to carve out additional nics in our server profiles so that we can seperate our management network from the remaining networks (vlans)

we have 3 x C7000 chassis, running VC v 4.41
BL460c Gen 8 blade servers
2x physical ports on each blade - HP FlexFabric 10Gb 2-port 554FLB Adapter
esxi 5.5 update 3a

at the moment our configuration is setup so that every vlan runs through the 2 physical ports.
so we have 2 physical ports and 2 ethernet adapters in the server profile.

Nic                                Server PROFILE

physical port 1 ==> Ethernet adapter port 1 > all vlans
physical port 2==> Ethernet adapter port 2 >  all vlans

this configuration works ok and the hosts are contactable, pingable etc.

we would like to set it up so that we have

physical port 1 ==> Ethernet adapter port 1 > management vlan
physical port 2==> Ethernet adapter port 2 >  management vlan
Ethernet adapter port 3 >  all other vlans
Ethernet adapter port 4 >  all other vlans

I can apply this configuration without any problems and it clearly shows that the new ethernet adapter ports are there because they have MAC addresses assigned. Looking around in VC it seems like these new ethernet ports are setup correctly.
unfortunately this configuration is not working and we cannot figure out why there is no data transfer.
if i was to revert to the original configuration the host would work again straight away...

I have a case open with HP about this and theyre initial findings are that there is a configuration issue somewhere but so far have not been able to identify where.
Could this be an issue with the physical nics being configured to not allow any more ethernet adapters?
is vlan tunnelling required? (this is not enabled)

i thought id ask here to see if anybody has come across this sort of issue before ... if not maybe you could suggest something i should check or try...

im fairly new to VC and learning fast....  let me know if you need any more details.

appreciate any help

cheers

ive also noticed that with the new configuration i cannot even ping the gateway... so theres definitely something wrong with the VC config.

the nics are showing as UP

we may have found a bug in VC thats causing the issue... were investigating..

Since this is an ESXi box, you will have to go into the ESXi console and enable the additional NIC's in the networmk configuration.  If they are not checked as being enabledf, they will not show up on the server.  This may require a reboot but I'm not positive.

Once it's in production it's all bugs after that.
