primary and secondary ports on fail-over mode

There is a possibility to change ports to primary or secondary if you select fail-over mode on the up-link ports. I can understand that you have 1 primary and others secondary. But what is the use of assigning multiple PRIMARY ports? What happens if I assign all ports as primary ports?
