BL460c G7 iSCSI configuration
We've got our BL460c G7 running ESXi4.1 with Lefthand P4300.
Currently we use iSCSI Software Adapter to connect to the storage and is working ok. But I just noticed
that there're 2 iSCSI adapter (Emulex OneConnect) with this blade named vmhba0 and vmhba1 both has the sam WWN.
My question is that can I use this instead of the iSCSI Software adapter ?
What is the benefit of using this ?
And how this is connected to the Lefthand P4300 ? through NIC ?
Thanks

Re: BL460c G7 iSCSI configuration
A hardware adaptor offloads the iSCSI traffic from the OS to the hardware.
It is certainly acceptable to use a hardware adaptor.
It is just another network adaptor, you configure it similarly.

Re: BL460c G7 iSCSI configuration
Hi,
Yes, you can use this instead of software iSCSI and this gives an added advantage in handling the stacks better and there should be a performance improvement also, provided the network on ESXi are configured in right manner.
Check the below guides for best practices and how to setup hardware iSCSI adapters.

Thanks,
