On 6th February 2020, we kicked off the 15th Cross-Company Mentoring Program at Deutsche Bank Headquarters in Frankfurt. 47 HP/E mentees and more than 20 HP/E mentors participated in this program so far. This year the following HPE employees and executives endorsed for the program:

  • Mentees: Stefanie Hahn, Michaela Grenz, Jill Reilly, and Verena Thiel
  • Executive Mentors: Uli Seibold, Marc Fischer, Sabine Sauter, and Christine Wenzel

The Cross-Company Mentoring Program enables talented women to team up with an executive mentor from an external company. In order to increase the share of women in leading positions, this program aims at strengthening and enhancing leadership skills by learning from senior executives with different company background. Unlike in-house mentoring programs, this program offers totally new insights into different company cultures, structures and processes and helps to build business-related networks outside of HPE.

In addition to regular 1:1 meetings between mentee and mentor the program offers regular face-to-face experiences, such as the kick-off event, two mentee-only events, and the closing event. The first mentee event will take place in May at DXC in Bรถblingen, the second mentee event will be hosted in September by HPE in Ratingen and the closing event will take place in January 2021 at Merck in Darmstadt.

Inspiring kickoff at Deutsche Bank Headquarters

Guido Furhman (Head of HR Deutsche Bank Germany) welcomed our mentors and mentees with a short introduction to Germanyโ€™s biggest bank. He was followed by Alexandra May (Head of Deutsche Bank Leadership Development) who gave an overview of the Cross-Company-Mentoring Program. A market place prepared by the mentees invited the participants to learn more about the participating companies. The mentees from each company designed posters representing best their companies. Following the lunch, the tandems had time to get to know each other. To create the necessary team spirit Deutsche Bank arranged an interactive team play which was a lot of fun as you can see in the picture.

During the coffee break, the tandems had the chance to connect once more and to agree on a date for their first meeting. Finally, Jรถrg Eigendorf (Global Head of Deutsche Bank Communications & Corporate Social Responsibility) gave a great presentation on the mechanisms of communication and its huge impact on the Deutsche Bankโ€™s economic success and branding.

Our mentees left the event inspired and full of anticipation to dive into the relationship with their new mentor.
