Device Deletion

Hi all,

Does anyone know another way of deleting a device other than through the console ?

I have a device I've imported incorrectly which can't get deleted. Whenever I performed the device deletion, it kept saying 0 device deleted and it remained there.

Thanks again...

Re: Device Deletion

I can't recommend manual removal at this juncture.
I assume that you tried the procedure as discussed on page 63 of the Guide and refreshed your view.
How did the device get into CCM?

Re: Device Deletion

Hi Roy, yup thats what I Did, page 63 on the manual.

I wanted to test if I import the device manually, instead by using its hostname I used its IP address instead. Except that I didnt follow the format of:

xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

instead I did:

xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx,
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

Note the carriage return after the comma.. it happily accepted it, but I can't delete it as per page 63. Please see attached.

Re: Device Deletion

I suspect that the issue is the dot notation.
If you can export all of you devices into an ldif file, remove the mk file and then import them it might work.
I'm not sure if CCM uses OpenLDAP but it would be a similar process.

Open a ticket with Support. I'd be interested in hearing what they have to say.

Re: Device Deletion

Hi Roy,

Not sure if CCM does support openLDAP, in fact I'm still so new at it, I've gone through quite a lot of the tables, yet still couldn't find it.

I'll log a call and let you guys know...

Cheers Roy !

Re: Device Deletion

Hi Guys,

I noticed that all the devices that are not modified for a period of tim (My guess is 90 days) are automatically dropped off.

If you find this an issue in CCM 2.1/2.11, please open a ticket on it.
