Patch Manager Problems

Hi There,

I'm having some problems getting Patch Manager to work - specifically the automatic patch management system.

I'm running OVCM on a 2000 server. The current net connection is through a proxy at http://10.120.92.3:8080 using domain authentication.
I've specified a valid domain username and password, however it doesnt work.

The latest html log file is attached. Ultimately it gives me a 407 error, and then locks the AD account out.

Any ideas? I've had a look and i cant find any solutions to it here...

Cheers

Re: Patch Manager Problems

An account locked out by AD implies that the wrong credentials have been used too many times.
Have you configure RPM for proxy per page 32 of the RPM Guide?
There is likely more information in the acquire log.
Make sure the id is unlocked too.

Proxy Password :
All login details are correct.

Re: Patch Manager Problems

Ok,
The only errors I see in the log are:
HTTP proxy error code 403 for FTP URL: ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq
This appears to be valid.
Check with your proxy administrator to see if it's allowed.
Drop the ftp URL into IE and see if it hooks.

Re: Patch Manager Problems

Hi Dear,

I would suggest you to just copy that ftp link shown in the error log in the address bar of the browser and check whether you are able to access through that link.
If not than the problem is with your proxy setting, you ip might not be allowed to download the files(like .exe)
If yes that problem is somewhere else.

thanks & regards
Shail.

Re: Patch Manager Problems

Right, i've had another play, and still not getting anywhere.

Now i'm getting MD5 compromised errors on various XML files.
I then get 403 and 407 errors on .cab files, which download ok manually...

Any more ideas?

Re: Patch Manager Problems

This would imply that the file downloaded that contains the xmlâ s is corrupted.
Clear the Patch directory and try again. You may also want to review one or two of the xmlâ s to verify that information such as location is correct.
If you post another log we'll take a look.

Re: Patch Manager Problems

Hi,

Right, i cleared the Patch Directory out, and ran it again.

Still MD5 error'd out - this time on a .tkd file.

The latest patch-aquire.log file is attached.

Re: Patch Manager Problems

The tkd error looks like tls.tkd which you should only need for Solaris and/or Redhat/Suse.
The log then shows it complaining about obtaining the patchagent.tkd and really gets upset when trying to deal with hp_softpaq. Finally there are some sql errors.
There is an update to patch.tkd but I think youâ d have to get it from Support.
Iâ d open a Support ticket.

Re: Patch Manager Problems

There is a 3.0.3 public update available for RPM. Check the updates section of the HP site.

Aswell as clearing the C:/Novadigm/PatchManager/data/patch/novadigm/rpmagent/version3/win32/patchagt.tkd file from your RPM server, I'd have the cache cleared on the proxy.

Re: Patch Manager Problems

Right,

I've downloaded RPM 3.0.3 patch, however in teh install instructions it says about installing an updated Agent aswell, which i cant find. Any ideas where i can get it?
I've just ran another update and it's giving the same error, though the aquire log does show v3.0.3.

I would raise a support ticket, but for some reason it's not letting me... probably because i'm just running OVCM as a trial at the moment.

Any ideas ppl?

Re: Patch Manager Problems

The updated agent comes with an acquire if you chose Publish and Distribute in your acquire file.
Youâ re running OVCCM evaluation software?

Re: Patch Manager Problems

I have no experience with the eval set so I don't know.
