WINDOWS XP SERVICE PACK 2 Deployment

Hi

I have acquired patches and service packs.

I am able to see service packs under. Primary PatchMgr.

How can I deploy the service pack. Please advise. I need to create service or any other way.

Can anyone give me steps to deploy the service pack xp sp2. as it's already acquired. I don't see any option to create the service when I right click service pack 2.

Re: WINDOWS XP SERVICE PACK 2 Deployment

I would expect you to see the Service in PATCHMGR.ZSERVICE and then connect it to the clients you desire?

Re: WINDOWS XP SERVICE PACK 2 Deployment

Hi Ray,

I am not able to see any service for service packs.

I am able to see something like MS05-001 to MS05-055.

Re: WINDOWS XP SERVICE PACK 2 Deployment

What you are seeing are Bullitens which is where various patches aggregate to.
Not having acquired the SP I'm not sure what it looks like.
I think SPs are a collection of patches which would aggregate to a bulliten.

Re: WINDOWS XP SERVICE PACK 2 Deployment

Kaps,

Unless you have already done so, you will need to create a custom XML file to pull down Windows XP SP2.
If you check within PATCHMGR.ZSERVICE can you see something called MS-WINXP_2? This should the the actual service to be assigned if the SP has been downloaded (but I doubt that will have happened yet).

Thanks

Re: WINDOWS XP SERVICE PACK 2 Deployment

There is a technical document available through the OpenView Support Site covering WIndows XP SP2:

http://support.openview.hp.com/

Then use the "self-knowledge search" to find:

Title: Acquiring and Deploying Windows XP Service Pack 2 via the HP OpenView Patch Manager Using Radia
Document ID: OV-EN019562
Product: Patch Manager using Radia
