Changing Location Type from 'Person' to 'Organisation'

Wondering if anyone has a quick and easy way to change Location Types in TRIM... there seems to be a few Locations that have been entered as 'Person' instead of 'Position' or 'Organisation' and vice versa.

Cheers,

TOT

No, this isn't possible. You will need to create a new Location.

I wonder why they dont let you change the type in the client as an Admin function (after all you can change record types as an admin)

Its a pain when you come across people registered as positions, or organisations or vice versa and there are records assigned, owned, or have access controls / contacts associated with them.

If would help if you could create a new location of the correct type and then delete the old location nominating the new one as the replacment (but trim insists the replacement is of the same type) so you end up having to bulk change stuff. ( its so tempting to get your DBA to update lcType to a new value in the TSLOCATION table ...... )

There's so much behaviour and data linked into Locations that changing them is not a simple task.

(Similar to deleting/merging a location, which is why we recommend doing that outside of hours... it smashes the database)

So simple idea, yes, but it's not so simple in the background. :S
