MMC could not create the snap-in

I have just tried to log in to the Trim Enterprise Manager and MMC load up with the following message

mmctrim.gif

It has been working fine for last few years, only became a problem yesterday. Have tried restoring the trim.msc from a backup and also clearing the MMC application data to no avail. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: MMC could not create the snap-in

Normally removing and re-adding the snap-in will fix it.

In cases like this a reinstall is normally in order.  : /

Re: MMC could not create the snap-in

So it seems like I will have to repair the installation of trim on the Master server to get the enterprise manager working again.

Just wondering if anyone has done this before, is there any risk involved in performing the repair via windows add/remove program? Could I potential stuff up the rest of Trim due to configuration changes etc that might go along with the repair?

Re: MMC could not create the snap-in

Make sure you're logged in as a local administrator on the machine (maybe someone changed that).

Try:

1. Start - Run - mmc

2. File - Add/Remove snap-in

3. Add - TRIM Enterprise Manager - Add

4. Close

5. OK

If working now:

6. File - Save As - "C:\Program Files\TRIM Context\Trim.msc"

7. Right click on your new "C:\Program Files\TRIM Context\Trim.msc"

8. Properties - set it to Read Only and click OK.

Re: MMC could not create the snap-in

Hi

I am getting the same issue. In my case we need to automate 32bit Application on 64 bit OS.  AND QTP is not able to identify any object of MMC screen like tree view items etc.

Please suggest us.

Re: MMC could not create the snap-in

Which version are you running?

Also ensure that you are running the TES with an admin account.

Re: MMC could not create the snap-in

Manish, I think you are on the wrong forums.

This forum is for the application called TRIM Context or HP TRIM.

The snap-in error is generic to the MMC and will apply to many products, so please make sure you find the right forum for help.
