TRIM 6.2.5 and External Links used by data

 

I realise not many will have setup a TRIM 6.2.5 test environment yet, but I was hoping for some others to confirm whether they have a similar issue.

 

It seems that after 6.2.5 installation in my test environment, I am not able to access used by data for an existing external link. It also appears that I cannot add any objects to an existing external link nor can I add objects to a newly created external link.

 

I even suspect that the act of pointing a TRIM 6.2.5 client to out 6.2.2. Production database may have wiped all data form the TSEXTLINKu table (meaning the external link was disabled against all objects) I haven’t been able to prove this yet.

 

Any thoughts?

ok I tested further and by simply connecting it to a new database TRIM wiped all data from tsextlinku table.

I launched trim 6.2.5 from one test client and pointed it to a copy of production that was 6.2.2 (not sure if this matters). I was logged in as an administrator on the test client. That was all it took to delete all data from the TSEXTLINKU table. I checked the table before and after I connected with 6.2.5 for the first time.

 

This is what shows in the workgroup server logs

This seems serious.

Hi Joshua,

 

Tested and replicated.

 

6.2.5 client connecting to a 6.2.5 WG server does not delete the data.

It's only the act of connecting it to an old WG that causes the problem.

 

(The issue still remains in 6.2.5 that the Used By data is blank...)

 

Jumping right on this now.

So the SPER report includes nothing related to External Links..... I've always wondered how bugs get introduced into portions of the software that haven't been modified since the last released build.  Or is this yet another case where work was done on a feature but not included in the SPER report?

 

Also, why isn't 6.2.4.1240 included in the SPER report?

It was caused by work on a semi-related area, having to do with Workflow and Record AddIns. (Record AddIns being in the External Links area).

 

You probably have a TRIMSper released earlier than Thursday last week. The latest TRIMSper contains all builds, including 1236 and 1240 that were missing from an earlier draft.

 

 

On this topics issue, my testing shows that it's broken in 6.2.5 with no workaround, so R&D will fix this in code ASAP.
