TRIM v7.01.1486 Bugs

I'm wondering if anyone else has seen any of these issues:

1) The command line parameter deployment method no longer support the "Auto Get Global on First Startup" flag.

2) If you tag multiple folders and then use the Navigation->Contained Records function, TRIM Crashes (both desktop and context).

3) When using classification titling, the prefix search action (just typing once the classification selection dialog appears) doesn't work; clicking the search button on that pop-up does work though.

4) The "Get Global" function doesn't include toolbars as a standard.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Cheers,

Erik

Ok, question for you, how do YOU find out about new builds?

Oh, that's a great answer  :smileyvery-happy:

Obviously I'm not signed up in the right areas, and maybe others aren't either.  Can you tell us how to get notified?  Please???

I'm a partner, so through the partner portal. I'm not sure how customers do it.

Re: TRIM v7.01.1486 Bugs

7.01 1499 is the latest build.

There have been 2 builds since 1486. (1496 and 1499)

TRIM_Fixes attached.

Thanks Grundy.

Might you have any insight into items #1 and #4?

Re: TRIM v7.01.1486 Bugs

No unfortunately.

These releases/fix were done while I was in Europe. :smileyhappy:

Re: TRIM v7.01.1486 Bugs

Any idea how to force auto get global that includes toolbars? Right now we're have to manually do it on each machine. It's a real pain.

Re: TRIM v7.01.1486 Bugs

Funny you mention that, got some L2's working on similar cases right now.

Not sure where it's up to, but it was definitely strange that by default on the client machine, the Get Global options have the toolbars etc unticked...

Re: TRIM v7.01.1486 Bugs

How's about just "Auto get global at first startup" that used to be part of the client install? It's no longer in the admin install point MSI, no command line option documented in the help files, and no obvious registry keys.

Re: TRIM v7.01.1486 Bugs

Ok, long story short:

1. There's no Auto Get Global anymore.

2. I think this is stupid and will raise a case with R&D.

3. There is a 'sort of' workaround for new deployments, but might want to avoid this if bringing new clients into an existing implementation:

a) Read this helpfile passage on Global Settings -

By default, users of user type Information Worker and above have the permission Bypass loading global toolbar and menu to enable them to create their own toolbars and menus.
They will never load the global toolbar and menu settings.

b) So the workaround is to remove the 'Bypass loading global toolbar and menu' permission on all user types.

c) Then turn on Lock Down Style in the system options.

Reasons this is bad for existing implementations:

It will reset all toolbars/menus back to default for existing users if you want to enforce global settings on new clients.

Hope all that makes sense.

There's a few more workarounds like deploying the user config files manually to users windows profiles, but the above is easier.

Re: TRIM v7.01.1486 Bugs

Good lord. Have the people making these decisions ever deployed TRIM? Most implementations change toolbars, viewer settings, and other user config options. Now we have to have yet another custom work around to get a standard, good config? Grrrrr. Why isn't this documented in the upgrade notes? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
