Titling - Client Method Not Updating when Client name is changed

[ Edited ]

We are using Trim 7.1.2.2017.

We have a record type which uses Client as the titling method.   A record was created using that record type and a location was attached as client.   The title for the record was the name of the location.

It was  later found  that the name of location (that was the client) was misspelled.  The name of the location was corrected.    However, the title on the record did not change to reflect the name change.

What has to be done to update the title so that it is the same as the corrected name of the location?  You would think that the title would automatically change, however it seems that it does not.

Thanks.

Bug in that build or maybe the user changing the name of the location didn't have writes to update the folder?

To correct you can update the title of the folder and it'll regenerate. Or pick a different client and then switch it back.

The client had to be first replaced before the change took place in the title.   That makes sense.

Thanks Erik.

This is working on the current build that our client is using (6.2.2 Build 8617). Any changes on the location would automatically change the corresponding record.

We are about to upgrade this client to TRIM 7.34 Build 5739 and noticed this behaviour and the only way to update is in the Help Document :

 Modifying Client Location record titles

  1. Search for the record whose title you want to modify
  2. Right-click the record and select Properties.

The Properties dialogue box appears.

  1. Delete what is in the Client Location field and click KwikSelect.

This will display all the available Locations in the Locations dialogue box.

- or -

Click KwikSelect to display the Locations dialogue box and then click Search or right-click Search - Refine Search to find the Location you want to use.

  1. Modify the Title (Free Text Part) component, if necessary
  2. Click OK to save and index the changes

Note:

Changing a Location name will not change any records created using the Location as the Client title. The change will however be reflected in the Properties dialogue box of the record, but not in the title in the view or list panes. Searching by client Contact with the new Location name will find the record.

Changing these records manually:

  1. Find the record(s) created using the Location
  2. Right-click one of the records and select Properties
  3. In the Client field, delete the Location and then KwikSelect to choose the modified Location.
  4. Click OK to save the change.

The record title will change accordingly and will now show the correct Location.

Re: Titling - Client Method Not Updating when Client name is changed

I found a change request (QCCR2D50257) in the system for reverting this behaviour back to the way it was in TRIM 6 days, i.e. if someone changes a location's name, any client-titled records for that location will automatically have their title amended to reflect the change. Keep an eye out for this change in an upcoming HP TRIM 7.3 service pack. I really don't know why the behaviour was changed in the first place.
