dataport cant distinguish between locations with same Name?

Hi,

HPRM version 8.0.1.6713

We have a heirarchy of organisation type locations

-Sydney

--Business Unit 1 ('member of' Sydney)

-Melbourne

--Business Unit 1 ('member of' Melbourne, has its owne unique id different to business unit 1 above)

We want to use dataport to bring Person location types into 'Business Unit 1' for Sydney, than again for Melbourne Business unit 1. Dataport however appears to read the Name and is unable to make a distinction between the two, even thought their unique ID differs.

We dont want to rename them. How can we import the data to the correct Business unit location when they have the same name, but different unique ID's?

Regards

I just tested creating a couple of locations with the same name in 8.1 and it worked.

As a test, you could create 2 groups in RM8 with the same name and export them using dataport. The export should give you an indication of what you will need to add to your original import for it to work.

You'll need to give each location a unique identifier. Then add the unique identifier to the import data.

Location relationships

o  LocationRelType

o  TypeOfLocation:

  • o  Committee
  • o  Group
  • o  Organization
  • o  Person
  • o  Position
  • o  ProjectTeam
  • o  StorageProvider
  • o  Unknown
  • o  Venue
  • o  Workgroup

o  SortName

o  Surname

o  SurnamePrefix

o  GivenNames

o  Intials

o  Nickname

o  IdNumber

o  DateOfBirth

Example of Location Relationships import field:

MemberOf;3;Director Education and Information;;;;;;0008;|MemberOf;1;Education and Information;;;;;EDUCINF;;

Resolved.  Our fault - misinterpreted the solution you described above, but have used it now with success.

Hi,

RM8.1 Win 7, MS Office 2010 , MS Net Framework 4.5.1

RM DATAPORT issue (not accepting import sheet document made for TRIMPORT.EXE :

Anyone kind to post an example of a working import document (sheet, CSV , excel, txt etc) with a few metadata (All required and a few optional)

All my previous TRIMPORT.EXE  import sheet (txt files actually) are not working when I use DATAPORT RM8.1

The error is saying , different format or something like that ..

New info: I tried TXT and later a MS Excel document (import sheet)

The error when I tried to load the Import File Path is: :A Afatal error occured: The source ( testimport.txt needs a valid byte order Mark to be used with a current formatter

for more info  read Help file ....

Then, a lots of error descriptions: At HPTRIM.UI.Controls.KwickSelect.OnBrowseClicked(point bottom right) ..etc etc..

Thanks

Re: dataport cant distinguish between locations with same Name?

Ok, that was UTF-8 error ...

Now 99 % is OK...however, no import is done as per this error:

Erro: ArgumentOutOfRangeException

Exception source:" Mscorlib,

exception message:

Index was out of range.

Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name: Index

Any ideas?

Thanks

Re: dataport cant distinguish between locations with same Name?

All good now,

I mean, 3 records are finally imported with DataPort in RM8.1 with a minimum metadata , no errors.

The format for import sheet attached.

Contacts field seems to be tricky and causing some confusing errors.
