Intermittant p2p LJ4000 JetDirect contact

A MS Win9X network has some PCs that cannot always see the printer on a small LAN, while others still can. Have reviewed all settings, replaced much hardware; are there little known settings/problems with this model printer sitting idle on network outside of sleep timer settings (turned off)?
