Problem with 4108GL
On Saturday I have this error on a HP 4108GL with 4 1000BaseT Modules
W 11/09/02 13:23:47 chassis: Lost Communication with Slot A
I 11/09/02 13:23:47 ports: port A2 is now off-line
I 11/09/02 13:23:47 ports: port A3 is now off-line
I 11/09/02 13:23:47 ports: port A4 is now off-line
I 11/09/02 13:23:47 ports: port A5 is now off-line
I 11/09/02 13:23:47 ports: port A6 is now off-line
I 11/09/02 13:23:51 chassis: Slot A Downloading
I 11/09/02 13:23:56 chassis: Slot A Download Complete
W 11/09/02 13:24:05 chassis: Slot A Assertion failed: nt, file dpc.c, line 169
I 11/09/02 13:24:11 chassis: Slot A Ready
Is it a bug in the firmware or is the module defect ??

is like somebody quit the card at 13:23:47 and put it at 13:24:11...
if you're sure that not tight the screws...
if message this happen another time open a hardware call to replace module

Hi.
Before opening a HW call however do check that you're running the current firmware.
It's also a good idea to move the module to a working slot and move a working module to slot A to determine whether the problem is in the slot or the module itself.
