Router/surfstop
Modem: CopperJet 811
Router: Q-Tec 778WR 4 ports
Desktop: Windows XP
Laptop Windows ME
Antivirusprogram: AVG and ZoneAlarm.
Window's Firewall is enabled but after connecting it is disabled automaticly. Does the Router causes this disabling?
Some moments it's not possible to surf any more, while connection is still intact. You cannot open or renew pages anymore. Shutdown and restart of desktop sometimes helps, but is not always the solution. Resetting the Router does help. Sometimes, when I cannot surf on the desktop, surfing on the laptop is still possible.
Can somebody help please?

Re: Router/surfstop
Make sure you are not running two firewalls (Windows and ZoneAlarm). One is all you need and Zone Alarm is the better firewall.
The router cannot turn off a firewall.
You may have some malware. Get HijackThis.exe from http://www.tomcoyote.com/hjt/HijackThis.exe
run it then SCAN your system then SAVE LOG and post the log as an attachment by replying to this thread and pressing BROWSE and pointing to the log. I'll be able to tell you more once I see your log.

Re: Router/surfstop
Hello Ron and Rajinikath,
At the site of Q-Tec I found the solution. I had to update the firmware.
I did not think of this solution at first, because the Router was brandnew.
Now I can internet without disconnection.
Thank you for your answers.
Best regards,
Ben
