16GFC on HPE FlexFabric 5930 2QSFP+ 2-slot Switch
Hi,
I have 5930 2-slot switches and 16Gb FC/10GbE combo transceivers (H6Z42A). When I back-to-back connected two 5930 switches through H6Z42A transceivers , they always link-up at 8Gb instead of 16Gb.
When I changed the speed from default autonegotion setting to force 16G, I'm getting a message that the configuration is not supported.
[HPE]int fc 1/1/24
[HPE-Fc1/1/24]speed 16000
Such configuration is not supported.
Has anyone ever built up 16G FC connections on 5930 switches?

Two 5930 connected together "Back to Back" (simple trunking? IRF stacking? what else?) using FibreChannel transceivers born - AFAIK - to connect to SAN/Server hosts? I'm noob about SAN but it appears an unusual way to interconnect two switches...

Re: 16GFC on HPE FlexFabric 5930 2QSFP+ 2-slot Switch
Two 5930 connected through a simple ISL connections. So, 16G FC transceivers were installed on E_port of each 5930 switch. (Configurtion is as below)
#
interface Fc1/1/24
fc mode e
port access vsan 100
qos trust dot1p
#
I tried connecting to 3PAR StoreServ and SN6600b FC switch, but the issue is observed with 5930 switch only.
- SN6600b (F_port) <---> 3PAR StoreServ 8200 / 16G FC port
Result: Link UP, 16Gb - 5930 + H6Z42A XCVR (F_port) <---> 3PAR StoreServ 8200 / 16G FC port
Result: Link UP, 8Gb - 5930 + H6Z42A XCVR (F_port) <---> SN6600b (AG mode, N_port )
Result: Link UP, 8Gb

Confirmint that the JH184A module supports the H6Z42A transceiver operated at 8GFC or at 10GbE.
