3Com 2928-SFP connecting to backbone via fiber module
I hope someone can help with this.
When I connect this switch directly to a fiber cable using a LC to ST cable into a ST fiber patch which goes to a 4228G switch then off to another fiber cable back to another fiber switch, I get no communications. The port doesn't even light up.
But when I connect to another switch locally via a fiber cable then that switch into a copper cable, I have communications. Also when I connect a copper port in this switch to an uplink port in a switch and then that switch uses an SC to ST cable into the backbone, I have connections.
I've tried the port as Access and as Trunk but both give the same result. I'm trying to have this being the only switch in this wiring closet so I really need to remove the intermediate switch that is giving me access to the network.
