4200G lockup on udpcast

Dear Support:

I am trying to use 5 3com 4200G switches in a simple daisy chain configuration.

Port  48 of each switch is connected to port 24  of the next.

Currently, there are only 12 hosts served by each switch.

SW1----SW2---SW3---SW4---SW5

|                                                       |

12 host drops each switch (including one host which is udpcasting an image to 50 other hosts which act as receivers)

There is no special configuration of any kind on any switch-- I just want them all to act like 48-port hubs.

There is one lan segment on the switch on all ports:  172.16.0.0/16

The management vlan for the switch is also on this segment.

A massive amount of traffic needs to flow:  I want to UDPcast an OS image to all hosts simultaneously.

I do not need to manage the switches while this traffic is going on.

What is happening is that sometimes the switches shut down the daisy chain or even lock up completely when I start the UDPcast.

What could be happening here?

Thanks

Re: 4200G lockup on udpcast

Maybe you have a loop?

Connect to the console and type

display stp

to check if spanning tree is enabled.

You can enable it with

system-view

stp enable
