5500-EI & Linksys 901 SPA Phones
5500-EI & Linksys 901 SPA Phones
Hi all,
Wondering if anyone from 3Com can help with this, if not I will log a ticket:
I have the following Switches, 2 of them:
5500-EI Software Version 3Com OS V3.03.02s168ep05
The phones are Linksys 'Sipura' 901, they are updated to the latest firmware and have the power adapter connected.
I have set up the default configuration on the switch, enabled a vlan (for arguments sake lets say VLAN 10) and placed all the ports inside this VLAN. Then, when I take a provisioned phone (one that has been setup by downloading it's TFTP image) and plug them in they only work in certain ports. For example:
Ethernet 1/0/1........................FAIL
Ethernet 1/0/2........................Epic FAIL
Ethernet 1/0/3........................PASS
Ethernet 1/0/7........................PASS
Ethernet 1/0/24......................PASS
Ethernet 1/0/25......................FAIL
Ethernet 1/0/37......................PASS
Ethernet 1/0/38......................FAIL
Ethernet 1/0/43......................PASS
So my question is why with the most basic configuration on the ports, set with full duplex / 10mbit why do the phones only work on 'some' ports???
I can even see their MAC address on each of the ports they are connected to, however they never seem to be able to ping, if they do come up, they reboot again.
When we swapped all of the phones over to a Netgear POE switch ALL the phones worked, now, I can see that you might say 'you need to use POE switches' but this isn't so, because 30% of the 24 phones worked on the 5500-E which is NOT POE!!!
Thanks
A very confused person..
