5500G distributed XRN possible?

Can 2 Switch 5500G be connected to one XRN fabric using GigabitEthernet ports? The manual from 2007-11 says no, only Cascade ports are used to form a XRN stack. True or not?

Firmware version is 3.3.1

TIA

...just in case someone looks this thread up...

I talked to 3Com support. On the 5500G model, XRN is only possible via the Cascade ports on the back, using XRN cables. Thus, switches in a XRN stack can be no further apart than 5 meters.

With the 5500 model (Fast Ethernet), you have to use RJ45 ports anyway, there are no Cascade ports. You declare ports as 'fabric ports' and connect via TP cable or fiber links.
