5830 SFP ports
Guys,
We've recently deployed a pair of HP5830s connected via fibre (LC-LX-SFP ports).
Initially we had planned to have routed ports - (to specify IP addresses), when we plugged the SFP ports into the dual personality ports on the switch there were no problems initially. But when we tried to set the port to routed mode we received this error:
SWITCH-01-GigabitEthernet1/0/49]port link-mode route
Error: This mode is not supported on this interface!
Why is this not supported? Why is this not documented - ANYWHERE? Are there any ways around this with the modules we currently have? We were able to turn route mode on ports TenGig1/0/51 / 52 - the ports reserved for SFP+ ports. However, we have only got SFP ports, and it doesn't look like the link is coming up.
Cheers,
Graham

Re: 5830 SFP ports
It is actually mentioned in some release note somewhere I've seen, but its not that easy to find. Either way, you could make the port an access port and an SVI with the L3 info. The port link-type route feature is pretty new, thats how you had to do it before.

Re: 5830 SFP ports
You could use SFP-Transceiver (1G) in SFP+-Ports as well. May that helps
