5900 AF as a router replacement

5900 AF as a router replacement

We currently have a 5900 AF linking all of our sites over fiber. We use the 5900 AF as our core switch/ router. Everything is working fine. There is another site that we use an old router to connect to. It is a very basic setup with one fast ethernet port on one of my IP adddresses and another fast ethernet port with the other site's IP address. There are rip routes to push the traffic between the two IPs. I want to get rid of the router and have the 5900 do the same work as the other router. As I start to think about what is involved in getting this done I realized I might need some help in setting this up. I have experience insetting up vlans and routes. I think an ACL or two might be involved in this. This is where I fall short in theory. Can someone help?

Thanks

Re: 5900 AF as a router replacement

Hi,

why don t use OSPF instaed of RIP or you can sue static routes if the routes are not many.

There is example available on page 34 and check if its solving your purpose.
