Applying broadcast limit on HP switches
I have found below commands to apply broadcast limit on HP switches but it is for inbound traffic.
Is it possible to apply the same for outbound traffic. I am trying to stop broadcast in the Core switch towards router connect port.
(HP_Switch_name#) interface 3
HP Switch(eth-3#) rate-limit bcast in percent 10

Re: Applying broadcast limit on HP switches
Hi @MohanBabu2287 !
What is your switch model and what s/w version?
For ProCurve devices there is following command for the outbound broadcast traffic limiting - https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=emr_na-c01978927#:~:text=Details&text=Enables%20or%20disables%20broadcast%20limiting,broadcast%20limiting%20for%20that%20port.

Re: Applying broadcast limit on HP switches
Hi,
(HP_Switch_name#) interface 3
HP Switch(eth-3#) rate-limit bcast in percent 10
but it is for inbound traffic . I want to stop the braodcast which is going oudside i.e Outbound.
Exactly what I want is, to stop the broadcast from Core switch to router.

Re: Applying broadcast limit on HP switches
Requirement: Configuring a Broadcast Limit on the Switch
Solution:
Broadcast-limit <0-99>
This is the maximum of network bandwidth in per cent that can be used for broadcast and multicast traffic. Any broadcast or multicast limit exceeding that limit will be dropped
Enables or disables broadcast limiting for outbound broadcasts on a selected port on the switch. The value selected is the percentage of traffic allowed, for example, broadcast-limit 5 allows 5% of the maximum amount of traffic for that port. A value of zero disables broadcast limiting for that port.
Switch to port context level before issuing the broadcast-limit command. This feature is not appropriate for networks requiring high levels of IPX or RIP broadcast traffic
