Comware 7 - MSR 3012 aux port IP address
Hi all,
I have a question concerning the aux port on a Comware 7 MSR 3012. This router does not have a management port, so I was wondering, since it's possible to assign an IP address to the aux port, can this port be used the same way as a management port?
If I configure an IP address and connect it to my computer's network port it doesn't respond to pings so my first thought is no, but then why is it possible to assign an IP address to it? Is it a bug in comware 7 or can this be used for something else?
I found this link dated 2010 at Cisco's where two routers are connected back to back using a null modem cable between the aux ports, but is this (still) a widely used practice?
Kind regards,
Mutsy
