Conflict in Network

Hi,

We are having HP 5500 L3 Switch and 2530 L2 Switch on Fiber.

The switches are located very far in campus. Sometimes accidentaly user put both the CAT6 cables in IP Phones and network started conflict and all the users not able to access anything.

What is the option in this switches to solve the conflict in these swithes i only uses web managed not telnet.

Please help to solve this issue in future.

Thanks & Regards,

Shiju Chacko

Re: Conflict in Network

Disabling ports of access/edge switch you know should be unused by users isn't a viable option?

I mean: even if those switch unused ports were all already patched to the passive cabling and especially against the fact that users the access switch is serving are improperly creating local loops by connecting their IP Phones with a dual link to that switch...you would disable those ports.

Another option could be to leave enabled all ports on access switch while removing the physical patch cabling of unused port (user outlet side).
