Establishing IRF Issue
Hi there,
The configuration of IRF is something I have done many times. However, I seem to be having issues stacking . I am stacking 4 switches. When I configure the IRF all looks good, when I bring up the interfaces on the 2nd switch it goes into a reboot (all good) but never goes into 2nd switch in the stack. All IRF member and priority numbers are done correct and I believe all versions of switch match etc...
Log output from switch 1 when switch 2 reboots;
%Aug 25 05:16:26:086 2001 SW-DC-DLAKE-STK-D18-1 IFNET/5/LINK_UPDOWN: Line protocol state on the interface HundredGigE1/3/2 changed to up.
%Aug 25 05:16:26:381 2001 SW-DC-DLAKE-STK-D18-1 STM/6/STM_LINK_UP: IRF port 1 came up.
%Aug 25 05:16:26:516 2001 SW-DC-DLAKE-STK-D18-1 STM/4/STM_MERGE: IRF merge occurred.
%Aug 25 05:16:30:978 2001 SW-DC-DLAKE-STK-D18-1 STM/3/STM_LINK_DOWN: IRF port 1 went down.
%Aug 25 05:16:30:979 2001 SW-DC-DLAKE-STK-D18-1 IFNET/3/PHY_UPDOWN: Physical state on the interface HundredGigE1/3/2 changed to down.
%Aug 25 05:16:30:980 2001 SW-DC-DLAKE-STK-D18-1 IFNET/5/LINK_UPDOWN: Line protocol state on the interface HundredGigE1/3/2 changed to down.

Re: Establishing IRF Issue
Hi there,
Many thanks for your response,. Incidentally, the switches are 5945s and have 2 ports assigned to each IRF-Port slot.
I followed those exact steps, ive done this a few times etc. Also on another note I just noticed int the display version on the 2nd switch it does not have SubSlot 4] LSWM18CQMSEC which is in switch 1..Could this cause an issue with IRF build?

Re: Establishing IRF Issue
Hi @declan2777
I dont see any issue with subslot here, if you adding new switch in IRF means . You can check following as well
1. display system-working-mode
2. display hardware-resource switch-mode
Working mode and Hardware resources should match on both switches.
I work for HPE
