H3C S5120 - "power" led flash green - impossible to connect on serial port
Hello,
I'm asking you because I need help.
I need to upgrade my H3C S5120 Series switch.
For this, first I tried to upgrade the bootrom, as described in the manual procedure.
Unfortunately the upgrade resulted in an error.
Then the switch has been disconnected and since then, it is impossible for me to connect to the switch with the serial port or other.
The "power" led flashes green.
If I connect an ethernet cable to a gigabitethernet port, the switch does not detect it.
I think the switch does not launch the bootrom and stays on the Power On Self Test. As a result, it does not load the software.
Please help me to find a solution.
Thank you
Laurent.M

Re: H3C S5120 - "power" led flash green - impossible to connect on serial port
Hello
Can you access the boot menu ( when the switchs starts booting, press Cntrl + B)?
From there you can reset or upload software.
Kind regards

Re: H3C S5120 - "power" led flash green - impossible to connect on serial port
Thanks, for your reply.
I can't access to the bootrom menu.
I have tried to connect on serial port with Putty and minicom, but it's impossible to access on the switch.
Best regards

Re: H3C S5120 - "power" led flash green - impossible to connect on serial port
Well, without console access, it will be hard to restore anything on the switch.
I think your best call is to contact HP support.
Have you tried different baut rates?

Re: H3C S5120 - "power" led flash green - impossible to connect on serial port
Another common baud rate you could try would be 115200.
Do you see any output on your console during the switch boot or just nothing at all? Please connect your serial cable first before restarting the switch, you should see the switch booting and the keys you need to press to get into the boot menus.
Without any connection to the switch, I think your only option is to contact the HP support, like HP-Browniee said before.

Re: H3C S5120 - "power" led flash green - impossible to connect on serial port
There is nothing during boot, and In my opinion the switch does not boot, it is as if the OS had disappeared when I tried to upgrade the bootloader.
I have also tried to connect my serial cable first before restarting the switch with the different baud rate, but nothing.
Thank you very much for your contributions
:-)

Re: H3C S5120 - "power" led flash green - impossible to connect on serial port
Laurent,
What is the model number of the switch? What version of code were you trying to upgrade to? What version of the bootrom did you try to load?

Re: H3C S5120 - "power" led flash green - impossible to connect on serial port
Hello David,
The moddel is H3C S51220 Series (HP A5120-16G SI), product N┬░JE073A.
I have no code because I do not have the switch display.
I have tried to load the version of bootrom : 5120.SI_5.20.R1518P05, and the last version of my switch it is Factory settings, so the version before this : S5120SI_CMW5.20.R1101P05.
I have not installed an intermediate version between the factory version is the latest version provided on the www.hpe.fr website.
