HP 5900 switch reserved ACL resource
Hi,
I have a question with an HP 5900 switch. The exact model is HP 5900AF-48XG-4QSFP+ Switch (JC772A).
When I type "display qos-acl resource" command to display the resource usage, there is this "reserved" column which shows that the switch is reserving 1024 out of 2048 of IFP ACL resource total.
Is there a way to release this reserved resource, or anyway to change its value?
[sw-of-inst-1]display qos-acl resource
Interfaces: XGE1/0/1 to XGE1/0/48, FGE1/0/49 to FGE1/0/52
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Type Total Reserved Configured Remaining Usage
---------------------------------------------------------------------
VFP ACL 1024 256 0 768 25%
IFP ACL 2048 1024 0 1024 50%
IFP Meter 1024 512 0 512 50%
IFP Counter 1024 512 0 512 50%
EFP ACL 1024 0 0 1024 0%
EFP Meter 512 0 0 512 0%
EFP Counter 512 0 0 512 0%
Thanks,
Joon

Re: HP 5900 switch reserved ACL resource
This is something that pisses me off aswell...
Last update for A5820 (or if it was A5120) said that the firmware update upped number of ACLs from 1000 to 2000... at first I went "wohooo!" and then I found out the same as you...
This is the output of "display acl resource" on a A5820 (I have a few ACLs but its like less than 10 rows in total):
Interface:
XGE1/0/1 to XGE1/0/24, GE1/0/25 to GE1/0/28
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Type Total Reserved Configured Remaining Usage
---------------------------------------------------------------------
VFP ACL 1024 256 0 768 25%
IFP ACL 2048 1280 8 760 62%
IFP Meter 1024 640 0 384 62%
IFP Counter 1024 640 0 384 62%
EFP ACL 512 0 0 512 0%
EFP Meter 256 0 0 256 0%
EFP Counter 256 0 0 256 0%
and here is the same thing from a A5120:
Interface:
GE1/0/1 to GE1/0/24
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Type Total Reserved Configured Remaining Usage
---------------------------------------------------------------------
IFP ACL 2048 768 0 1280 37%
IFP Meter 1024 384 0 640 37%
IFP Counter 1024 384 0 640 37%
Interface:
GE1/0/25 to GE1/0/52, XGE1/1/1 to XGE1/1/2
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Type Total Reserved Configured Remaining Usage
---------------------------------------------------------------------
IFP ACL 2048 768 2 1278 37%
IFP Meter 1024 384 0 640 37%
IFP Counter 1024 384 0 640 37%
Worth mentioning is that both A5820 and A5120 in my case have ipv6 enabled and the A5820 also have approx 100 vlan-interfaces configured with IPv6-addresses along with "ip urpf loose" in case any of this affects number of reserved ACLs (I have unfortunately no way to test this since I dont have any spare devices to test this on).
