HP A5120 Fans

Hey Experts,

I have to replace the PSU-fans of a HP Switch A 5120. With the new fans the PSU goes on and off in a couple seconds cycle. When I use an original fan of another A 5120. The PSU works as expected. The only difference I see between the original and the new fans is, that the new fans consume less power than the original ones. The original consume 0.18A each while the new ones consume 0.05A each. Could that be the reason for my Problem? How can I work around that issue?

Many thanks in advance

Re: HP A5120 Fans

Are related Fans SKUs/Product Numbers identical (if any)? I suspect PSU's Fan(s) aren't available as spare parts to be exchangeable by customer...

The SKUs are not the same, that is why I try to find the difference between the fans. Do you know if power or maybe fan speed is monitored and if those are out of range the PSU restarts?

Re: HP A5120 Fans

You need to use fans that are appropriate for the switch.  The fans also need to be the same model.   I would check the QuickSpec to make sure you have the right part...
