Hey all,
Trying to get OSPF configured on our flexfabric 5700 switches, however the guide I am following says to issue the command "ospf" but this is not an option on this switch for some reason.
I am following this guide http://h20566.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c04406884
RIP is an option, I am wondering if this is a license issue?
Switch details below:
HP Comware Software, Version 7.1.045, Release 2311P05

SolutionSteven,
You are running code that is 2 years old. According to the release notes, there was some major Layer 3 routing stuff added in R2418P01. The latest code is R2432P02 and that has been available since the end of March. I'd upgrade and see if there is any difference.
Also, remember when you do OSPF that there is an instance number that you specify as the argument to the ospf command. You can run multiple ospf instances if you need to.
Regards,
David

Re: HP FlexFabric 5700 OSPF
Hi David,
Thanks for the reply. We have been advised the same from HP support.
I am planning an outage for the coming weekend to upgrade them to the newest firmware. Will update this post with the results.
Thanks

Re: HP FlexFabric 5700 OSPF
Hi Steven,
Just a quick reminder that the 5700, even though it has a lot of routing features since R2418P01, is still not a platform suited for routing. Lots of people end up in here posting about routing table sizes for 5700s.

Re: HP FlexFabric 5700 OSPF
Thanks Søren,
Unfortunately we are in a position where we do not have much choice on this one. We are not going to be routing everything just a very small number of our Vlans, so I am hoping it doesn't cause too much of an issue.

Re: HP FlexFabric 5700 OSPF
Was a bug with the firmware. We are able to configure this now.
