HP/H3C 5120-48G-SI
Hi,
We have a bunch of new 5120's running:
Comware Software, Version 5.20, Release 1505P07
Copyright (c) 2010-2011 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
HP A5120-48G SI Switch uptime is 0 week, 4 days, 20 hours, 35 minutes
I've irf:ed 4 of those together and added the following configuration on all TP-ports:
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1
description ACCESS-PORT
port link-type hybrid
undo port hybrid vlan 1
port hybrid vlan 530 untagged
port hybrid pvid vlan 530
voice vlan 612 enable
stp edged-port enable
When the stacked booted up couple of days ago, everything worked fine. Both computers and telephones. Issuing a "dis vlan 612" showed that all ports were tagged on 612 and "dis vlan 530" showed the same, but untagged.
After ~2days, all IP-phones stopped working, after issuing the same commands again I discovered that "dis vlan 612" now only contains the uplinks. What have happened? I can so nothing to get this solved, adding/removing conf, shutdown/undo shutdown, enable/disable voice, nothing gives, if I reboot the entire stack, everything starts working again.
I also have the same issue on a HP A5120-24G-POE+ SI who is NOT stacked, but running the same software version and configuration.
Issuing a "dis voice vlan state" revils that all ports still seem to have correct configuration and voice should be enabled. Why have the tagged vlan stopped working after 2 days on 2 different switches and setups? Anyone have any experience with this ? Bug? Should I downgrade the software?

Re: HP/H3C 5120-48G-SI
Using pretty basic configuration here.
Pretty much lldp enable globally.
I don't see the phones as LLDP neighbors, only the uplink port shows.
No special voice vlan config than about except: undo voice vlan security enable
A dis log reveals nothing upon the time the voice vlan timer expires, vlan is just removed.
We're using Nortel IP Phones 1120E model NTSY03.
dis voice vlan state shows (even after timer expierd)
GigabitEthernet1/0/1 612 AUTO 6 46

Re: HP/H3C 5120-48G-SI
I have never had any problems with LLDP at all on H3C devices.
Give the latest R1512P05 firmware a try: https://h10145.www1.hp.com/downloads/SoftwareReleases.aspx?ProductNumber=JE074A&lang=&cc=&prodSeriesId=
But I don´t think it will help in your case

Re: HP/H3C 5120-48G-SI
Yeah, I'll try the new firmware. Got LLDP working as well after resetting the ipphone and configure it from scratch. However it did not help. I can see a LLDP neighbor and the vlan for voice, but when the voice vlan timer runs out, the vlan is removed yet again. The LLDP neighbor is still active thou.

Re: HP/H3C 5120-48G-SI
Since noone seem to have any ideas I opened a HP TAC case. The engineer didn't know what was wrong, and they should try my configuration in the lab so see if they can reproduce it. If they can, this might be a bug, I'll keep you all posted.
I also figured out a temporary workaround to this problem, if I add the oui of some phones manually they work. But like I said earlier, the customer have tons of different oui's, so this don't scale at all.
voice vlan mac-address 0017-6500-0000 mask ffff-ff00-0000 description Nortel
Which is kinda stupid, since then the "undo voice vlan security enable" command have no function, the main idea and goal was to turn off the security check for a mac and just let whom ever talk... But it's a workaround, hopefully the TAC will get back to me with something useful.

Re: HP/H3C 5120-48G-SI
Hello,
How is the case with support progressing? I thought I'd provide a bit of input on your issue, even if it is late.
First of all, it looks like you wish to use LLDP in order to place the phones into the Voice VLAN automatically. However judging by the configuration you showed, this is not configured properly.
You can put the ports with phones into the voice vlan manually, as you have done with "voice vlan 612 enable", which will be subject to the voice VLAN aging timer (24h by default on Comware 5), and cause the switch to discard the voice VLAN after the timer expires. This is as designed in Comware 5 (was a bit different with CW3), and for deployments with older phones that do not support LLDP.
Otherwise you should use LLDP detection instead. This is configured with the command "lldp voice-vlan 612" instead.
Example config for you...
SYSTEM VIEW:
lldp enable
lldp compliance cdp
PORT VIEW:
port link-type hybrid
undo port hybrid vlan 1
port hybrid vlan 530 untagged
port hybrid vlan 612 tagged
port hybrid pvid vlan 530
undo voice vlan 612 enable
poe enable
lldp voice-vlan 612
lldp compliance admin-status cdp txrx
stp edged-port enable
I bolded the parts that should be changed.
Hope that helps you out. If you try to configure this and it still doesn't work, please provide your new configuration. Thanks!
Justin
