How to change the NTP setting on H3C S5800 switch to the new server IP address ?

People,

I've got 2x H3C switch that is running as stacked mode (I assume) and then from the display running-config command, it is still pointing to the old server IP address, so how can I change it safely without causing outage to the production environment ?

I'll post the configuration dump on the below thread reply.

Best regards,

Try this:

system-view

undo ntp-service unicast-server 10.1.3.26
ntp-service unicast-server 10.1.3.99

save

Thanks Terje.

Is there any outage required / caused by running those script ?

No, I have changed NTP config on a number of HP switches (various models), and I have never had any kind of problems.

This is a very easy change to make.  No outages!  For most non-routing kinds of things you can make changes and they will take effect on the fly without any serice interruptions.  You just have to be careful about the major stuff... software upgrades, routing or switching changes, etc.

Re: How to change the NTP setting on H3C S5800 switch to the new server IP address ?

Thanks Terje and VoIP,

Since my H3C switch is configured as stacked and I only conencted to the Switch #1 on COM1, do I need to do the same thing on the second switch for changing NTP and DHCP relay setting ?

Re: How to change the NTP setting on H3C S5800 switch to the new server IP address ?

Hi,

Somehow I also able to access the Web Management Platform  for H3C S5800 switch using old Windows Server with IE8 and go to Network | DHCP | DHCP Relay tab

is there any difference making the changes from the web console above compare with the COM1 serial port ?

Hi Albert!

Since you have an IRF stack, a setting like NTP is global so you are all set.

There should be no difference but the web is more limited with its abilities than the CLI.  DHCP is another global parameter that would work stack-wide.
