there are 4 procurves. the problem is the inter-vlan routing. when i am on one of the procurves i can not ping any of the vlans on the a5500, except the vlan 101 (this is the default vlan) my servers are sitting in the vlan 102 and vlan 100 is the old network.

can anybody tell me where i have gone wrong? and what i must do to change this?

Re: Hp A5500 and procurve 2610

You need to put an "ip default-gateway" on each of the procurve switches, pointing at 172.16.1.1.

As for your hosts in the various VLANs - you don't seem to be using VLANs 101 & 102 anywhere on the Procurves - so why are those VLANs trunked there?

Also, you obviously intend for the 5500 to be your "core" switch doing the inter-VLAN routing, so why are you trunking the VLANs on to a Cisco router? What's that for?

Re: Hp A5500 and procurve 2610

HI,

yes the 5500 will be the core, i was just putting all the vlans on to all the switchs.

i will configure the procurves default gatways to 172.16.1.1.

i am still worried about the routing

Re: Hp A5500 and procurve 2610

You might also need to run the command

"management-vlan 101"

on all the procurves.

As far as the routing goes, you need to get rid of all those VLANs off the link to the Cisco router and create a new VLAN just for that point-to-point link.

I'm guessing you need a default route on the 5500 pointing at the Cisco router.

On the Cisco router you need routes for each of your 5500 subnets, pointing at the 5500.
