Is bootROM upgrade needed with new app file?

Hello. I want to upgrade app and web file on  3COM SuperStack4 5500G-EI SFP.  I am quite worry about bootROM upgrade. Is it necessary to upgrade bootROM with new app and web files?

Check the release notes. there you will find which bootrom are compatible with the os. But dont worry about bootrom update. I upgraded thousands of switches the last years and never had a problem.

OK, but I am not sure with new firmware compatibility. I use 3CR17259-91 switch. This https://h10145.www1.hp.com/Downloads/SoftwareReleases.aspx?ProductNumber=JF553A&lang=en&cc=us&prodSeriesId=4177570 firmwares should be suitable for this. I am currently running 3.02 series of firmware and need to upgrade to 3.03 series. I found 3CR17259-91 in readme (chapter Scope) for 3.02, but there is only 3CR17258-91 (not 3CR17259-91) in this chapter for 3.03 series so I dont know ... is it compatible with my switch?

The best way is to try it. In the worst case (i expect it works) it will warn you and abort the update.
