JG554A fans making very loud noise

We bought a JG554A 5900AF-48XG-4QSFP+ switch to act as a backup to our three other JC772A switches/cores. When I noticed the the switch was a JG554A I bought some JG553A fans. The datasheet for the switch says these are front to back fans specifically made to work with this switch. When I installed them however the fans make a ton of noise (this cannot be good). Is there something I should be changing in the config maybe? My other JC772A core's fans do not make this noise.

Re: JG554A fans making very loud noise

Eric,

You need to tell the software which direction you need.  Use the following command to set the fan direction in the system CLI:

fan prefer-direction slot 1 port-to-power

Depending on the fan tray, you can also set power-to-port.

I mostly use port-to-power.  As I said, it depends on your fan tray model.  The direction is set at the factory and cannot be changed.

If this is an IRF setup you'll need to do it for each slot in the IRF.

Don't forget to save the configuration after you issue the command so that it will be set appropriately the next time the switch boots.
