Load balancing - both on L2 and L3 - How?

let´s imagine a ring of switches, each in one building. So we have switch A,B,C and D. So, setup is A-B-C-D-A

So in this situation, I do have a loop. So let´s do STP. But with STP enabled, I do not have load balancing within this loop. So how can I make a layer 2 load balancing?

Next step would be to make layer 3 load balancing on top of the layer 2 ring. Well, what about OSPF. Will it work?
