Lost chains in flash detected, please use fixdisk to recover them!
After a tshoot session with one of my customers, I ran into the following message:
Lost chains in flash detected, please use fixdisk to recover them!
Root cause:
HP informed me that after more than 1 million flash write actions, the chance of flash memory corruption significly increases, causing bad sectors in flash memory.
This was triggered by the following command:
dhcp-snooping binding database filename flash:/dhcp.dbase
dhcp-snooping binding database update interval 1
Solution:
copy (in this case dhcp_dbase) to a remote tftp server instead of flash
or change the timer to an interval that you do not exceed the 1 million mark threshold advised by HP.
