Odd values in ifLastChange (.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.9) on HP 5120 Version 5.20.99, Release 2221P02
Hi
As a lot of other admins I need to know when an interface was last used and for that ifLastChange (SNMP) seems like the obvious choice. But on our 5120's the values I get are very odd. If I disconnect or connect an interface to a device a value is set. My last test the value was 79 (the uptime of the switch is beyond 1 year) and as far as I can tell there are two possibilities, either the value is the time since boot (basically a copy of the uptime at the time of change) or the time since boot minus the value (which would indicate that the value should continuesly change - seems wrong). Anyways no matter what I do it seems the value doesn't represent what the documentation states.
Any ideas on getting to the right value or another way to display when the interface changed state (I want to know what interfaces that have been down for more than 90 days)?
Cheers,
Anders
